Soon gay marriage in Ireland

Dublin Openly gay MP David Norris will introduce a bill introducing a Registered Partnership into the Irish Senate in early April. The so-called “Domestic Partnership Bill” would give same-sex couples almost the same legal rights and obligations as heterosexual couples. Norris expects a large majority for the Registered Partnership, which is already supported by all major parties in the Irish Parliament. If the bill becomes law, registered homosexual couples in conservative Ireland would have far more rights than in Germany. Homosexuality has only been legal on the green island since 1993. (Dk)
