Israel: court sets equal

Jerusalem The district court in Nazareth has granted an inheritance law to majority couples by majority vote. The claimant was a 77-year-old man whose boyfriend died four years ago. According to the judgment, the plaintiff may inherit the apartment where the unmarried couple lived together for 40 years. The court justified the decision with the legal practice of seeing couples known to the public in inheritance tax law as married couples, even if they are not married. However, this practice was previously only for couples of men and women. (Nb)
